Observation does not try to assign meaning. It is simply but thoroughly answers "What does it say?" Interpretation - Determining the author's meaning. Answers "What does it mean?" Correlation - the process of relating the passage under consideration to the rest of the chapter, the whole book, and other portions of Scripture. It prevents meaning from being forced on a passage not intended by the author. Application - Putting God's Word into Practice. Answers "What does it mean to me?" |
