Eternal
Salvation
God's Word says (using NIV
& NASB translations):
We are all sinners and headed to eternal death; Therefore,
just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and
so death spread to all men, because all sinned. --Romans 5:12
But there is hope for us: So
then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even
so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all
men. For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners,
even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. --Romans
5:18-19
Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our
Lord Jesus Christ. --Romans 5:1
Salvation is by faith and not by works:
And you were dead in your trespasses and
sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world,
according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now
working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived
in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind,
and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being
rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we
were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ, and raised
us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus,
in order that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His
grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been
saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a
result of works, that no one should boast. --Ephesians 2:1-9
Some will go to heaven and some will not:
And the witness is this; that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in
His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of
God does not have the life. --1John 5:11-12
...if you confess with your mouth that Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart
that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a
person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses,
resulting in salvation. --Romans 10:9-10
God's children are expected to be obedient
to their Father: Therefore be
imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also
loved you, and gave Himself up for us, and offering and a sacrifice to God as a
fragrant aroma...for you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the
Lord; walk as children of light. --Ephesians 5:1-2, 8
Our church teaches the FAITH strategy to the
salvation of your life with a simple acronym.
F
for the Forgiveness that God gives to those who believe.
Ephesians 1:7
A
for the Availability to all man, the forgiveness of sins. John
3:16 & Matt 7:21
I
for the Impossible, it's impossible to receive forgiveness of sins if we don't
believe in Christ and what He did for us. John 3:16, James 2:13 & Romans
3:23
T
for the Turn, it is our responsibility to turn towards God and ask for his
forgiveness (repent). Luke 13:5, 1 Corin. 15:3-4 & Romans 10:9.
H
for the Heaven that is promised for those who repent. John 10:10
After you TURN.............................
God promises His children certain
things: "The moment you receive
Christ by faith, as an act of the will, many things will happen" (life
doesn't get easier -- it is not focused on self as much):
Your sins are forgiven (Colossians 1:14).
You become a child of God (John 1:12).
You receive eternal life (John 5:24).
You begin the great adventure for which God created you (John
10:10, 2Corinthians 5:17; 1Thessalonians
5:18)."
